not what we had planned

The last week or so has just not gone quite as we had planned!  Two Fridays ago about the time that I decided that we were going to drop the afternoon nap I took Dalton and his cousin to Unpluggits for a fun afternoon of indoor play on outdoor equipment since we were still having below normal temperatures in our part of the world!  They had a great time and Grandma Beverly even joined in on the fun!

Down the slide!

Just realized I was taking a picture and he's NOT SO HAPPY about it!  I think he was saying something like "I am trying to paint!"  UGH!

Then Saturday came and daddy was sick in bed both Saturday & Sunday...NO FUN FOR ANYBODY!  Dalton was sweet though and kept wanting to check on him and make sure he didn't need anything!  We survived the weekend and ended it with family dinner minus daddy at my parents house for our weekly get together!

Monday came and Dalton and mommy took a road trip to the car wash...the one where you can watch your car getting washed through the glass!  He was pretty impressed and they also had a play room...not that I recommend it...not sure those toys have EVER BEEN CLEANED!  We used LOTS AND LOTS of hand sanitizer once we got back to the car!  And all seemed well until later that evening right before dinner Dalton said his tummy hurt and then as Dalton likes to call it "he spit up" mommy says "he threw up"!  Not to bad though but he was burning up and with the help of my brother we got a thermometer that works becuase for whatever reason ours was not working!  And sure enough FEVER!  Luckily no more spitting up and the fever stayed manageable with ibuprophen but mommy and Dalton had a slumber party just to make sure little guy was alright...he had started getting a rash on his face and chest so I wanted to keep a close eye on him!  He continued to run a fever that night when the meds wore off so after consulting with my mommy the next morning decided to go ahead and call the Dr.  We got in later that afternoon and after THREE throat cultures (Dalton will tell you that he didn't like it and it made him cough...Mommy will tell you he screamed worse than he ever has with a shot and he gagged and I thought he was going to throw up!) and then when strep came back negative he got his finger poked with a needle and squeezed...he didn't like that so much either!  But atleast he got a spider man bandaid and a sucker!  It appeared to be some sort of viral infection that luckily dropped the fever Tuesday afternoon and the rash by Wednesday afternoon!  But not before missing Mother's Day Out on Tuesday...and boy did this mommy need a break so thank goodness for Thursday hear we come!

Wednesday we took it easy so Dalton would be ready for Mother's Day Out on Thursday and luckily he was!  We planned to play with his cousin again after MDO she goes to the after school program there on the same days that Dalton is in MDO...they were both pretty excited!  After dropping Dalton off I headed home to tackle the crazy mess of a house that had been waiting on me for days!  And about half way through the day we lost power for about an hour and a half!  It happens pretty frequently but it usually comes back on but after picking up the kids, getting frozen yogurt, watching a movie and playing outside it happens again...a big BOOM and lights out!  Dalton and one of his neighbor friends Andy played after his cousin left and watched as OGE was on our street and still no power...and still no power so mommy, daddy and Dalton headed for chinese food!  Upon our return still no power...in my mind I am already into plan B my parents house!  So I start getting me and Dalton packed...daddy always stays behind to take care of the house!  And of course about 5 minutes before we are ready to go BOOM the power is back on but of course Dalton was already set on going to Grandma Beverly and Pa's house!  So being the accomadating parent that I am we went and I am glad that we did because daddy texted me around 10pm to let me know the power was off again...crazy power went off and on several times until about noon the next day!

The next day being Friday we decided to go to Jason's Deli for lunch with Grandma and my sister met us there!  Dalton is usually pretty good when we go out to eat but not so much this time...my sister was having a hard time not laughing from across the table as Dalton and mommy went round and round!  After lunch we headed to TJMAX to look around and lucky for Dalton they have toys and of course his Grandma Beverly bought him a fire truck and mommy was weak and bought two books for him!  We headed home later that afternoon and were thankful for the power that we had and tried to resume life as usual!

Saturday came and daddy saved the day...he took Dalton for donuts to give mommy a few moments of peace and quiet!  They even brought me home a donut or two!  And then after lunch daddy took Dalton to his school...Dalton loves to go there mainly because daddy has chocolate in his office!  And while they were gone mommy ran a few errands like Hobby Lobby and Target!  We also got a special package in the mail from some of daddy's friends who have a vineyard here in Oklahoma...they have started making jelly and sent us some to try and evaluate for them...

Dalton helping open up the box of jelly!

Never I repeat never turn your back on a toddler with a box of packing peants...this is just part of my living room...he thought it was pretty funny!  Boy that was fun to clean up:(

Dalton testing some of the jelly...he said it was yummy but as usual didn't want his picture taken...all a mommy can do is try:)

We spent A LOT of time as a family this weekend two...all three of us and it was really nice!

  1. Oh, two sick guys so close together...no fun! Glad they're all better--probably a lot of thanks to you :)
Packing peanuts are awful! My mom sent our Christmas presents in a huge box full of those things. I opened it, saw the peanuts, and closed it. I couldn't deal. Don't know how you got that cleaned up!
