merry CHRISTmas day

Well believe it or not we actually had to wake Dalton up at 8am...probably becuase it took him SOOOO LONG to fall asleep the night before!  He was very excited when we woke him up and wanted to know if Santa had ate the snack that he left for him!  We slowly made it through his gifts...he was so excited about each one that he wasn't all that worried about what was in the next one!  But he was definitely more aware of all of the Christmas buzz this year then last year!  We would have normally gone over to mommy's parents house for a yummy Christmas lunch but once again the snow and ice kept us at home today.  So this mommy made a BIG breakfast for lunch...Dalton really likes eggs and will actually eat some bacon and it was super easy to fix!  We had scrambled eggs with cheese, biscuits with gravy or jelly if you are Dalton and bacon and then after we fed our belly we headed out into the snow!  And after playing in the snow Dalton went down for a nice nap and while he was sleeping mommy's siser called and offered to have her husband drop by and pick us up and take us to our parents!  YEAH...of course we wanted to go so we did and exchanged presents and had delicious potato soup that we were supposed to have the night before!  The roads were pretty slick and we were thankful that Uncle Todd picked us up and took us home safely!

This is a picture of our stockings hung with care and filled with goodies plus just a few special presents left by Santa for Dalton on Christmas morning!

Dalton checking to make sure Santa ate his snack and he even left Dalton a message thanking him for being such a good boy this past year!

Reindeer tracks in the snow on our back patio!  We figured they must have gotten bored waiting on Santa to get that motorcycle down the chimney and decided to play with some of Dalton's toys!

Getting some cruising time in with Linny along for the ride!

Checking out the goodies in his stocking!

Opening another present...race car dress up clothes!

Dalton also got a remote control excavator from Santa and is just perfect for scooping up the beans in his new bean table!

Dalton got some additions to his wooden train set including a bridge and a cargo loading station!

Mommy's side of the family...YEAH we got together for Christmas after all!  Check out Dalton's clown costume that he is wearing...told you he loves to dress up!

CHRISTmas Eve at our house?!??!

This year Christmas Eve traditions were left behind as the winter weather kept us all at home and scrambling for what to do!  Every year we get together with mommy's family and eat yummy potato soup that Dalton's Uncle Todd makes and all the cousins get to open their gifts from each other!  This year mommy made cheeseburgers and french fries and Dalton got to open up presents from Daddy's family and Great Grandma that had arrived in the mail days earlier!

Dalton was excited to say the least to get to open presents when he got up from his nap!

The first BIG ONE...surprise he wanted to open this one first!  He said it's almost as tall as me!

The indoor...bean/pasta/water table from Grandma Wanda & Aunt Cindy!  He loves loves loves it and before the night was over we had beans in it and then the beans were removed and water put in!  One of Dalton's most favorite activites brought indoors for the winter months...yeah!

Daddy had to help with this cool gift from Uncle Mike & Aunt Cindy!

It's a dump truck robot...and the funny thing is Dalton always went straight for this toy when he was checking out the toys at Target the past couple of months and I didn't even think about asking anyone to get it for him...sure glad that Uncle Mike & Aunt Cindy knew what he likes!  He loves it...it can dance, talk and dump what more could a little guy need!

I think he's doing a little dancing in this picture...great toy!

Mommy's Grandma in Missouri always sends some money for mommy to buy Dalton a toy for Christmas and this year I found the perfect toy!  Dalton is a HUGE fan of the Wonder Pets and this is a Linny stuffed animal and a short board book with sounds!

He really LOVES LOVES LOVES it and gave it a BIG BIG BIG hug and asked if he could sleep with Linny...of course why not he can just add her to the other 15 stuffed animals on his bed!
Super sweet!

A laptop just like Daddy from Grandma Wanda!  He likes to pretend he is doing "work"!

And last but certainly not least the treats for Santa and his reindeer!  Cookies, candy cane, milk with straw and a plate of celery for the reindeer!  You may be asking why celery for the reindeer...well in the Wonder Pets Christmas DVD Linny gives celery to the reindeer so naturally that is what Dalton would want to do!  Linny LOVES LOVES LOVES celery...looks like Dalton shared some of it with him!

though the weather outside is frightful

The temperature is 23 degrees and who knows what the wind chill is...the wind is blowing around 1,000 miles per hour!  Well maybe not that fast but pretty good...good enough to be considered a winter blizzard!  Really in Oklahoma on Christmas Eve?!?!?  I guess be careful what we wish for when we want a white christmas and of course this is Dalton's first white christmas and only the third one in my life time so I figured I should get some pictures to capture the moment!  When Dalton went down reluctantly for his nap this mommy bundled up and headed out with camera and had no idea how crazy cold it was going to be...the pictures aren't great but I wasn't staying out any longer trying to get any better ones!

The above pictures are of mommy all bundled up showing off my new winter cap...I have it in brown and black!  I hear that happens a lot as we get older and I totally must admit that I am this way that if I find something I like I buy it in several colors!  And the other picture is the front of our house...the wind was blowing the snow so hard I had no idea what the pictures looked liked until I got back inside!  May I remind you that I am not a professional photographer just in case you were wondering...hee hee!

Snow drifts up to our bumpers...and yes I had to walk through that to get out to take pictures...FUN FUN!  Not really!

I was trying to get a picture of my pretty Christmas wreath...but the blowing snow got in the way!

So here is my Christmas wreath minus the blowing snow...looks so pretty with the white snow that has settled on it:)  I love deocrating for Christmas!

A shot looking outside our front door!  It's hard to see that blowing snow is crazy!

big kid school christmas party

When this mommy pulled into the parking lot for Dalton's Christmas Party there he was in the window just waving as BIG as he could!  I just love that he gets so excited to see me when I arrive at his school:)  They were just getting ready to read a christmas story when I got there and Dalton did great and just waved but stayed in his group and listened to the story!  There were lots of mommies and even a daddy there to help with the party...good times!  After the story they stayed in their spots and rang Jingle Bells as they sang and then also sang We Wish You A Merry Christmas!  I had heard one of his teachers saying they were going to try to get them to sing when I dropped Dalton off earlier that morning so when I returned I brought the video camera and was able to capture it...super sweet!  I MUST figure out how to add video to my blog...my camera has been giving me trouble but this video is a must see and must hear!

The kids listening to the story!

A close up of Dalton sitting with some of his big kid school friends!

Their craft was decorating a gingerbread man...I helped him spread on the icing and then he just dumped the sprinkles all in one spot!

Dalton showing daddy the video and eating his gingerbread man!

We didn't stay that long at his party...he was ready to go!  I had mentioned earlier that morning that we would drive by and look at the John Deere tractors after school and that's all he wanted to talk about at the party!  He didn't want to eat or socialize he was ready to go...so he gave both of his wonderful teachers a Christmas gift and we look forward to returning after Christmas break!  His teachers also gave him a gift...it's a book called Christmas Cats...we read it every night!  And he always wants me to read the message on the inside cover where it says Merry Christmas...etc. and his teachers names!  He really does like his teachers and so do we!

playdates playdates and more playdates

A couple of weeks ago Dalton and mommy met some of our other playdate pals at the Edmond Historical Society Museum...they have a great kids museum!  I highly recommend it and the best part is it's FREE!  It was freezing cold that day and was great that we were able to let the kids run around crazy somewhere other than our living rooms.  There was a lot of opportunity for pretend play and Dalton is REALLY into that right now!  There is a grocery store, bank, house, jail, train station plus colors, building blocks, etc. all for FREE!  After this playdate we met another friend and her little girl Madelyn for lunch at Chick-fil-a...where Dalton broke his arm this past summer!  And yes he will still tell you all about it...luckily it was WAY TOO COLD to go outside and play!  This mommy would have been a bit nervoust...but Dalton was ready to go back out and play!  Madelyn is super sweet and pretty darn cute too...she is about 6 months older than Dalton...we should play with them more often!  She told Dalton all about her barbies...of course Dalton already knows about barbies thanks to his girl cousins!

Just a couple of pics that captured a few fun moments...

Luke, Maddy and Dalton in the digging area...it's rubber mulch!  NO MESS...great idea!

Dalton doing one of his favorite activities...hauling stuff with his wheelbarrow!  Check out the REAL animal skins hanging up...really grossed me out and I think Dalton too!

Maddy and Dalton setting up or tearing down the train tables!

Last week we were supposed to have a fairly large playdate Christmas party but it got canceled due to one of the little guys having strep!  Mommy's friend Katie and her two kids Maddy and Luke decided to come on over and we had a PJ's and presents playdate with pizza!  The kids exchanged their gifts to each other and were pretty sweet...this mommy would have taken pictures but my house was such a mess that I had no idea where my camera was...and Dalton would have probably just screamed at me anyway...ha ha!  We LOVE LOVE LOVE our big playdates with all of our friends but it was also nice to have a smaller setting for Dalton...he still gets a little overwhelmed in BIG GROUPS!  He kept saying we need to have Maddy come back over and play and it was so cute when they were here because Dalton and baby Luke were just chasing each other around and around and just giggling!  They got along really well and Dalton shared pretty well and wanted them to see his BIG BOY bed:)

We also got together with some of our old neighbors who have moved out of state last week!  We miss them and were so excited that they made time to come by and play while they were in town visiting...and I got a few pics...not the best but I got some!  They were very busy...Carter is a year older than Dalton and Graham is almost a year and a half (I think)!  Dalton really came out of his shell with Carter this time...he is usually SO SHY!  This time Carter told me that he had never heard Dalton talk so much...and he was right!  Eventually all the neighbors were out...just like old times:)

Dalton and Carter going round and round...chasing each other...good times!

They stopped for a brief moment so I could snap a picture...CHEESE!

Carrie and Graham...what a cutie!

Jonas and Andy...he's a lucky little guy that he didn't get ran over with the big boys on the tractor.  He was having fun pushing the tricycle!  Andy is always good with the younger kids in the neighborhood!

and the countdown begins

The countdown to Christmas Eve began at our house this morning!  When Dalton woke up he found 3 presents from his mommy and daddy under the tree!  He gets to pick one to open every morning until Christmas Eve...today he opened up a special plate and cup set for Santa's cookies and milk plus a plate for the reindeer snack...they get hungry too you know!  If you promise not to tell...shhhhh...the other two gifts are Christmas PJ's and a Christmas story book!  He was VERY EXCITED...instead of shaking the gifts to see which one he wanted to open he asked if he could knock on them...that is a little bit strange but o-well he is a toddler after all and strange things happen!

Dalton making sure that the plate and cup were okay for Santa to eat cookies and drink milk from!  I think they passed the test...what a fabulous breakfast chocolate chip cookies and milk...YUM YUM!

what we had to pick from

This year the Christmas card photo selections were slim...these were some of the ones that didn't make the cut!  Enjoy...the bloopers:)

Be careful what you ask for when you ask a 2.5 year old to say "cheese"!  Oh and the lights got a little hotter than we both anticipated!

Dalton playing ring around the Christmas tree aka run from mommy and Aunt Dawn when they are trying to get a picture of me in front of the Christmas tree!  He is having the time of his life...mommy not so much!

Not his best look!

I think he may be winking at the camera...who knows but the PJ's are pretty cute!

Daddy trying to convince Dalton that he wants to talk to Santa this year...it's a good thing that we brought a list just in case we got shy!  He asked for a motorcycle, 4-wheeler and a big lawn mower for daddy and Dalton to share...Dalton's words not mine or daddy's!
