magic paint

After a long week of Dalton rising with the sun and not taking very good naps if at all...this mommy was running out of stuff to keep him entertained! And she just happened to mention it to her sister and of course Aunt Dawn had another great idea...painting with water...aka magic paint! And the cost for us was $4.50 for a set of 5 brushes all different sizes at wal-mart! We already had a bucket and of course the water was straight from the water hose on the side of the house!
These pictures are from last night when we first introduced the magic paint...we have since painted several more times and the neighbor girls thought it was pretty cool too! We have painted the driveway, the garage, the 4 wheeler, etc. and we have drawn shapes and letters and had a blast! And the added bonus is there is pretty much no clean up:) So for all of the folks out there who don't like to get messy this activity is for you...and yes the kids might get a little wet but in the Oklahoma heat it won't take too long to dry! He's kind of looking like really...I can paint!
WOW...look at all that paint in that bucket!

It is also very fun to stir the magic paint in the bucket!

The new paint job on the 4-Wheeler!

john deere tractor

Last Friday I took Dalton to one of the great parks here in town and my mom came along with us! It's always nice to have a second adult at the park...or any outing with a two year old:) We had been talking about feeding the ducks for A LONG time mainly because they are constantly flying over our house and never stopping to eat. And last summer we fed the ducks at the park and apparently it was a good time and Dalton had not forgot! This day was particularly FANTASTIC because the ducks were very hungry and there were a TON of fish that were practically jumping out of the water to get at the bread...Dalton thought that was pretty funny! And there were a bunch of fairly large turtles in and around the pond too! Not to mention the squirrels that we spotted and a VERY FAST and LUCKILY VERY SMALL lizard my mom spotted! Thanks Grandma:)
Dalton is still not to sure about all of the big play equipment but he's getting better! He's quite cautious like his mommy and likes to observe for awhile before he tries something new! And he has also started packing his own back pack full of extras for the park like a sand shovel, tractors, balls, dump truck, etc. You just never know when you will find a great place to dig...just like the pictures below! And we ended the morning with lunch at my mom's house in the back yard and a little more outdoor time there! After almost 2 weeks of rain it was nice to have a sunny day to play:) Something has caught his attention other than his tractor!
Very busy loading up all those wood chips!

touch a truck

Touch A Truck is an amazing event put on by a local MOMS Club! And it is an opportunity for kids of all ages to explore tons of different kinds of trucks (get in, walk around, honk the horn, ask questions, etc.) And being an event planner working for the Muscular Dystrophy Association for many years before becoming a SAHM I have to say I wish I would have thought of this one! We were always looking for a kids event to add on to an already amazing car show and this would have been perfect! Anyhoo...this was Dalton's second year to go thanks to our neighbor Carrie (who was a member of this MOMS Club) who told us about it last year! Sadly, Carrie and her little guys didn't get to go this year because they moved to another state earlier in the week...BUMMER! We miss them already:(
Like most little boys Dalton is in LOVE with all trucks and can name almost all of them! He may not know his ABC's when he starts Pre School but he will be able to identify all of the construction trucks and almost every car or truck you can think of! And I just knew that he would LOVE LOVE LOVE Touch A Truck this year...wrong! According to his Daddy Dalton got on the tractor a FedEx truck and then he started hearing all of the loud sirens, honks, etc. and he got a bit nervous. Apparently, he still wanted to walk around but didn't want to get to close to any of the trucks and he definitely didn't want to explore them like I had hoped he would...oh well there's always next year! Daddy said that Dalton's little palms were even a little bit sweaty...he never cried but Daddy said you could tell he was trying really hard to be brave...bless his little heart!
Dalton on the tractor with Pa standing by! We have turned this into an annual event with Daddy, Pa and Dalton...Pa's birthday is always the same weekend so it's part of his birthday celebration! Pa LOVES cars and trucks too!

JUST SOME PICS...THAT MOMMY THOUGHT WERE CUTE!

This is what Dalton picked out to wear after dinner tonite...these days we are going through quite a few outfits! Someone can't seem to stay clean while playing outside...go figure! Anyway...these are his cowboy dress up overalls from Halloween! I can't believe they still fit but they do and here they are! And I think they are SO CUTE! This is Dalton's I promise I didn't just pull off a hand full of your newly bloomed white petunias look! WHO ME...I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT?!?!?

His new favorite thing to do...put his legs up!
He normally wears his helmet...but he had just jumped on!

Just hanging out! Trying not to smile for the camera!

Love my sweet boy! He's growing up on me!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ME!

Well, this was my 3rd official Mother's Day and I simply can't believe it! I think this one was OH SO SPECIAL because Dalton could actually say "Happy Mother's Day!" Dalton and Daddy made it a very special day for me...with McDonald's pancake breakfast and lunch too...Daddy doesn't do A LOT of cooking! But lately he has been getting pretty brave and trying new things...I think he is trying to steal my job! We had dinner with my parents, my sister and her family and my brother-in-law grilled steaks...yummy! Other than that it was a pretty normal day and that was great with me:) Mommy loves her new necklace (and Dalton does too)! It is a picture frame necklace...I can't wait to get pictures of my little guy in it...so everyone will know I am his momma!
Mommy says "thank you" with a big hug and a kiss!

MOTHER'S DAY CRAFTS FOR GRANDMA!

This past Saturday daddy had a meeting he had to be at the first part of the day so Dalton and mommy were on our own! So we decided to have one of Dalton's cousins over to play while her mom and sister were busy working at a garage sale raising money for their Relay for Life team!
We had a few items on our list of things to do and one of them was breakfast...I thought Dalton would love donuts (he hasn't had one before...at least not one with chocolate and sprinkles...my personal favorite)! He wasn't half as crazy about the donuts as he was about the chocolate milk and that is all he wanted to do while we were there...you just never know! Our first stop was for donuts and chocolate milk!

The only other thing we really HAD TO DO was work on Mother's Day gifts for Grandma...my mom! It would be a little hard to ship so Daddy's mommy got flowers from her local florist instead and of course a phone call on Mother's Day!

Cousins painting!

Dalton really liked painting and I totally let him pick the colors and paint where he wanted to!

The finished product...watering can planter that can later be used to water Grandma's other flowers! My mom is an amazing gardener and we hope that this will help keep her flowers beautiful all summer long!

what's wrong with these pictures

This rain has to stop because with all of this time spent with Dalton inside he is getting into more and more stuff that I wished he wouldn't and Daddy probably wishes he wouldn't either!
Right before dinner Dalton found where I had all of his old baby bottles stored! He easily gave up his bottle at 1 year and we have never looked back until today!

Dalton really likes to play in mommy's car and pretend he is driving! And today he found mommy's lip gloss...OOPS! He had just checked himself out in the mirror!

my daddy is dr. burt

Daddy recently got Dalton his very own Dr. Burt shirt! Daddy works very hard everyday so mommy can stay home and play with Dalton and we appreciate that very much! Earlier this week Dalton did the funniest thing...he grabbed his backpack and said "bye bye momma I go to work" and he opened the door and went out to the garage just like Daddy does! Luckily mommy talked him into working from home that day...Daddy does that sometimes too! Dalton and I set up a home office for him at his table with paper, stickers, crayons, cell phone, etc. He had lots of fun and I would have gotten pictures but of course my battery was dead on my camera...maybe next time! Dalton modeling his dr. burt shirt in Daddy's office! He loves any excuse to be in his office and he's not to easily convinced to leave!

Dalton moving on to play with his trucks!

Just in case you didn't get a good look at the logo here it is!

still mowing after all this time

Mowing is HARD WORK...I love this picture he looks so serious!
Well...I have to say that Dalton's bubble mower has been one of his favorite toys since he received it a year ago! He mows green grass, dead grass, driveways, sidewalks and carpet if you let him! He doesn't even care that most of the time the bubbles don't work so well:( We have taken many a walk around the neighborhood with Dalton pushing his mower...and it usually travels with us to Grandma's house too...her grass needs mowing too you know!

This is Dalton a year ago with his brand new mower!

Dalton this year...stopping briefly for a smile for mom!
Waiting patiently for his turn while Daddy is out on the lawn having his turn at the mowing! And yes he is still loving the mowing after all this time!
