snow day #2, #3, #4 it's all a blur.....

Just some pics about what we have been doing on our "snowcation" at home this past week...

Snow day #2
We finally made it outside for about 15 minutes on Wednesday...it was in the single digits maybe 10 degrees but windy!  Daddy started digging us out!

Daddy shoveling snow...check out his new truck in the garage...where it will stay until the roads are dry and the sun is shinning!

Dalton climbing up one of the many snow drifts...

A messy science fun part #1 gone way wrong...not really wrong just much messier than mommy had planned!  Gooey stuff (1 cup cornstarch and 1/2 cup H2O).

Science fun part #2 water and food coloring drops...look at that crazy hair...I made him an appt. to get his hair cut today...hopefully we will be able to get there before the next snow storm on Wednesday!

Dalton just liked to squeeze the bottle and streams of food coloring versus drops of food coloring make a big difference...I guess that is part of the science!

This is what it is supposed to look like...
 Snow day #3

Found this art activity on line...mix tempera paint with bubbles...they used a pie pan...mommy didn't have that much bubble solution on hand so we did little ones.  Blow with a straw and then place paper on top of the bubbles and it makes a pretty cool design!  Dalton just loved to blow the bubbles...surprise!

This is when it was still wet...looks pretty cool when it dries you can do multiple colors and it looks pretty groovy!

Gooey stuff again...it was a hit...mommy was prepared this time!  Art smock, towel on floor and much more adult supervision!

Just as much fun as the day before...

He looks so serious...and that crazy hair again!

Doesn't get much better than this...snow brought inside for you to play with while you watch Super Hero Squad on the DVD player!  Someone please rescue this sweet boy from all of this abuse:)

Mommy's little multi-tasker...making snow balls while gazing at the TV...he was in the zone!

He got himself dressed for this snow play...hat, gloves and rain boots!  He got them all on by himself...shoes were on the wrong feet but I was totally impressed with the gloves!  I could get used to this indoor snow play...a lot less work involved for mom!
 Snow day #4...I think
Earlier in the snow week Dalton saw a Franklin episode where Franklin and his friends made homemade super hero costumes and used flashlights to defeat ghosts in their basements.  We did our best today with construction paper, felt, staples, clothe pin and baby blanket...check out the super power bands on his wrists and ankles and of course the lightning bolts on his chest and headband!  He was preparing to save some people from the yellow bus...he had to lift it with his super strong muscles!

Finally back outside...sledding with his Uncle Kevin and cousin Melanie!  Yes we are sledding down are snow drifts...it worked!

I love this picture...this was their first trip down!  Look at those smiles and it looks like Melanie is giving a thumbs up:)
There is more snow to come and mommy is doing her best to enjoy this time with her hubby and little man at home but I am getting a little bit stir crazy...okay A LOT!  I did get to take a 3 hour nap the other afternoon that would have never happened if we hadn't been snowed in so for that I am thankful! And the hubby took on all parental duties including dinner, putting Dalton's sheets back on his bed, a large mound of towel folding and entertaining the little man!  He did great and I am forever grateful...I got up just in time to eat some dinner and have a fun filled slumber party with Dalton.  He just thinks they are the best and I must agree...because there will come a time sooner than I would like that he will deny such a thing ever happened!
Ohhhh...I don't want my sweet boy to grow up...most days!

snow day #1 complete

Well the storm moved in pretty much just like the news stations predicted.  And when we (me and the hubby) decided to finally figure out what was banging on our back porch last night about 3am because neither one of us could stay asleep...we were greeted by strong winds and lots of white stuff!  And the hubby was kind enough to walk out in it and grab the plastic container lid that kept flapping up and down and up and down...thank you hubby!  We barely got back to sleep...okay 3 hours when Dalton appeared at our bedroom door to report that it was snowing outside...oh my goodness it is going to be a very long day!  Mommy and Dalton get up and I turn Nick Jr. on for him and I head back to bed for another 45 minutes!  Our bedroom is all of 10 steps from where Dalton was watching TV and it felt more like 15 minutes and not 45 minutes when he came back in asking for chocolate milk or something!

It was too cold and windy to get out and get too many pictures this is one I got on the south side of our house from a window!  I think we got around 10 inches and the winds were gusting up to 50mph...so I guess this is Dalton's second snow blizzard in his short almost 4 years!  We didn't get this much snow when I was a kid growing up in Oklahoma that's for sure!  We will get out and play some tomorrow when at least the snow is not falling and it is just bitterly cold!

Our first snow day request was chocolate donuts...but no trips to the donut shop for us!  So we settled for chocolate cupcakes, chocolate frosting and sprinkles!  Always a little baking to be done on a snow day...I offered them to the neighbor but he hasn't made his way over yet...I don't understand why?!?!?  There are only 3-4 foot snow drifts blocking the way!  He actually had to go into work and then got let loose later in the day...I figured the least we could do is offer the man a cupcake!

They were pretty yummy!

And later in the morning I was on Facebook and saw a college friend of mine who had brought snow inside in a plastic container for her little girl who was too sick to go outside!  Light bulb moment...so I had daddy and Dalton clean out our indoor sand/water table and we loaded it up with snow...stuck some gloves on and had some fun in the snow in our warm cozy house!  That's the kind of snow this mommy likes to play in...but I bet we will be out in the real deal tomorrow!

I must say he was pretty impressed!

Daddy had found a snow plow construction set several months ago and had been waiting for a good time to bring it out and today was perfect.  We added it to the snow plows he got for Christmas and he had quite a crew moving that snow around.

Working on some snowball skills...

Our sweet Frosty the snowman...built with Mr. Potato head pieces!  We had to move him outside on the back porch because he was beginning to melt:)

We also played super hero guys, Toy Story memory, watched TV, marbles, legos, etc.  And we were lucky that we didn't have to get out in the mess today and that all of our families were safe and sound at home!  I have a couple of more crafts for tomorrow and hopefully some fun snow adventures to report on so stay tuned!
