2 year old well baby...toddler check

Yesterday Daddy and Mommy took Dalton to his 2 year old check up...everything was great! The usual don't worry about the veggies he will eat them when he's ready, slow down on the juice have him drink more milk, time out is a great idea for discipline, you may want to schedule his first dental check up between now and his 3rd birthday, MDO is a good idea to get him socializing more, etc. He did great on the way there, he did great in the waiting room (the big fish tank helps) and then the tears and screaming came once he heard his name called. We did manage to get him measured and he is weighing in at 27#15oz (50%) and his height is 34" (45%)! He usually gets himself together once the nurse leaves the room and he likes his Dr. and we love her...Dr. Parrington she's great:))) Then of course he loses it again once the nurse returns to give him his vaccine and finger prick!
Bless his heart...but we did get to come home and have lunch with Grandma "B" and one of his cousins and play play play outside because the weather has been unusually beautiful the past couple of days. And we went to the park with Daddy when Dalton got up from his nap...GOOD TIMES:) He woke up this morning asking to go to the park! One last birthday pic...his tool bench...he went right to his power drill and started working!

MORE BIRTHDAY NUMBER TWO PICS...THE FAMILY PARTY!

We had Dalton's "family" party on February 21st and once again...yummy pizza, messy cupcakes and lot of fun took place. And lots of birthday presents for our special birthday boy who we still can't believe is two years old! But he sure does remind us everyday with his growing vocabulary and need to do everything by himself..."Dalton do it!!!" Sometimes he asks for help but not as often as he used to. The traditional birthday song, making a wish and mommy and daddy blowing out the candles!
Dalton looking HAPPY as his guests help themselves to candy, cupcakes and perhaps even a few veggies!

Dalton helps himself to a yummy cup cake...apparently finger licking good! Mommy must be a pretty good baker after all!

Dalton's cousins got him "Dorothy" for his birthday...he is very intrigued and is wanting so badly to stick his hand in the bowl! We will be heading to the pet store soon to get a new "Dorothy" this one didn't adjust well to her new home:(

Enjoying some of his new toys!
Dalton is SO BLESSED to have SO MANY people who love him and are a part of his life and that is present enough...but of course everyone likes to buy birthday presents especially for cute little boys who just turned two. So here goes...
  1. Grandma & Grandpa "B" got him a toddler size table and chairs set
  2. Grandma "S" and Aunt Cindy got him a Step 2 tool bench, fire truck
  3. Aunt Dawn, Uncle Todd & the cousins got him "Dorothy" and all the goodies that go with her.
  4. Aunt Joanna & Uncle Kevin got Dalton a toddler size football and soccer ball plus two board books.
  5. Great Grandma "Z" sent him a check...mommy got him 2 shirts.
  6. Clay, Sheryl, Kelsey and Kaden got him a wooden train and play doh with play doh accessories.

After the birthday party Dalton went right down for a nap...NOT REALLY! There was no time for naps...way to many new toys to play with to take time to rest! So the rest of the day was spent checking out his new toys while his Grandma "S" and Aunt Cindy went shopping. Daddy stayed home with Dalton and mommy tried to go shopping with Grandma and Aunt Cindy but I couldn't keep up so they dropped me back off at the house and shopped on. They returned later that evening and we all had dinner together and played with Dalton while he watched Sesame Street and then tucked little guy in bed!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO DALTON! PART ONE!

For Dalton's 2nd birthday Mommy decided we would do one party with friends and one with family...so lucky for Dalton his birthday fell on our usual play date Tuesday! So we invited his friends over for pizza, cup cakes and fun! They were so nice to come and play with our big birthday boy and they even brought gifts...a shopping cart from Maddy/Luke and a fire truck from Jackson! Mommy's little Cookie Monster...he just couldn't wait until the guests arrived!
Close up of the yummy cupcakes...

Dalton not wanting one of his favorite guests to leave the party so soon!

Singing Happy Birthday to Dalton and blowing out candles!

Getting ready for the first bite!

Luke and his big sister Maddy! She is very high fashion in her trendy coat and sunglasses!

Some more pictures of Dalton and his play mates... 3 little monkeys jumping in the bed...luckily nobody fell off and bumped their head!
One of Dalton's Grandma's was at the party and she was very popular with the kids...here they are taking turns coloring on Dalton's Happy B-Day sign!

Later that night Dalton opened up some presents from mommy and daddy...PJ's and books!

Dalton and Daddy checking out one of the new books...about trucks of course!

IT'S OFFICIAL...HE'S TWO!

I think I am going to do my best to make a list of 25 things about my 2-year old! Kind of like the list going around face book right now...so here goes my 25 random things about my toddler:)

  1. When he goes to bed at night he wants his Daddy and if he wakes in the middle of the night he only wants Daddy.
  2. When he wakes in the morning he asks for Mommy.
  3. He used to love breakfast and be starving when he got up...now he is way to busy for breakfast and I am lucky if he eats much at all. But when he does he LOVES scrambled eggs with cheese and ham, cheerios with milk and pancakes with syrup...he always says they're sticky!
  4. He's not really one to let me brush his teeth..."Dalton do it" is what he says! So that is always interesting.
  5. He is not interested in the potty...he went through a short phase of sitting on the Elmo potty but I can't remember the last time he even talked about it...that's fine with me.
  6. Ever since Dalton was about 6 months old he has been a VERY predictable sleeper...well over the past 2 months he sometimes takes a nap in the afternoon and sometimes he doesn't. Mommy is not ready for Dalton to give up his naps:(
  7. He is starting to put more and more words together.
  8. He knows his primary colors and some others...pink, purple.
  9. He can count to 10...that doesn't mean that he will.
  10. Every once in awhile he will call his mommy and daddy by their actual names...it is funny to hear him say our names for some reason.
  11. He still likes Sesame Street...but he also likes DVD's about monster trucks, john deere tractors, tanks. He will ask to watch the movies CARS and Toy Story...he likes Woody!
  12. He is a pretty picky eater but for lunch, snacks or dinner you can count on him eating pizza, lunch meat and cheese, vanilla pudding with bananas, mandarin oranges, gold fish crackers, chicken noodle soup, chicken nuggets and of course french fries with lots of ketchup! He likes his Harvest Surprise grape Juicy Juice...the kind with fruit and vegetables...thank goodness since we have just finally found a vegetable that he will eat...steamed broccoli.
  13. He loves to be outside and asks to go outside every day no matter how hot or cold it is outside...and we try to go unless it's below freezing even if it's just for a little bit.
  14. He doesn't like to swing anymore but he can climb up the ladder to his slide and go down all by himself.
  15. He loves my parents Pug Zoe but he also likes to tease her and tell her no.
  16. We have started taking him to church more the past couple of months...but he still refuses to stay in his bible class...we are still working on that one.
  17. He is wearing 2T clothes...they are a little bit big but the others are too small. And he wears a size 6 wide shoe...but those are getting tight too! I think that we have hit a growth spurt.
  18. He has been a VERY HEALTHY kido...we are fighting an ear infection right now but it's only the 2nd one he has ever had.
  19. He loves motorcycles and tricycles...big ones, little ones, ones on TV and ones in books...he LOVES THEM.
  20. He LOVES trains and going over the tracks.
  21. He gives the best hugs and gives them quite often.
  22. He has an amazing laugh and smile.
  23. He is frustrated easily.
  24. He STILL eats play doh.
  25. He has a hard time sharing with his play mates...but we are working on that! He did a great job sharing at his birthday party on Tuesday!
Just a few more...
  1. He can finally say Grandma...and I know two women who are very excited about that.
  2. He loves his bubble bath and wrapping up in his green frog towel...then we pretend that he is a froggy.
  3. He sleeps with 2 small blankies, stuffed bear, stuffed rabbit, stuffed frog and stuffed monkey...oh and I almost forgot the sippy cup of ice water...he asks for 5 ice cubes...mommy gives him 2!
  4. He has started saying please A LOT! It is so sweet and it makes it harder for mommy and daddy to say no.

WHAT AN AMAZING WEATHER WEEK WE HAD LAST WEEK!

The weather last week was AMAZING...in Oklahoma you never know if it's going to be hot, cold or somewhere in between. And last week it was somewhere in between! So Dalton decided to practice one of his favorite things to do in the backyard! Climb up the ladder "like a firefighter...he sometimes adds" and go down the slide...all by himself!Align Center UP! UP! UP! Across the bridge...he usually scoots...for whatever reason he is a little scared to stand up and walk across...that's okay with me...it's much safer this way!

All smiles! Ready to go again! The many tubs of fun! Sand, water and bird seed...it looks more messy than fun to mommy but Dalton was having a blast! And of course that is what is MOST important:)
