turkey day travels

Well we headed to Texas for Turkey Day this year to visit daddy's sister and her husband and we picked up Grandma Wanda in western Oklahoma on the way!  Daddy has an aunt and uncle there with lots and lots of cousins (first, second and third cousins)!  We picked up Grandma Wanda on Wednesday and headed to Texas and stopped for a late lunch on the way at a great restaurant with YUMMY food...too bad Dalton had not desire to sit down and eat...luckily it was the day before Thanksgiving and after the lunch rush and he was able to roam around a little bit while we ate OUR yummy lunch!  Apparenly Dalton was survivng this road trip on chocolate milk and cheese crackers...healthy...oh and I almost forgot gummy worms!  We got to our destination early enough to go and visit Aunt Cindy at work...I think she enjoyed showing Dalton off to the other ladies at her work!  We made several more stops to visit relatives before heading to see Aunt Cindy and Uncle Mike at their house for a pizza dinner!  Dalton made himself at home with the toys and their inside dog Peaches and had a ball...we stayed as late as we could before heading out to the hotel where daddy, mommy and Dalton would stay the night!  We had a great room...actually two rooms which made sleeping arrangements much better for all of us!  Well for Dalton and daddy not for me...Dalton was all over the place in the king size bed that we shared...especially all over me!  He doesn't sleep with us in our bed at home so this was a special treat for Dalton to have a "slumber party" with mommy! 

The next day was Thanksgiving and we got up early and daddy and Dalton headed to Aunt Cindy's and mommy stayed behind to get ready and pack up the hotel room!  Dalton showed his daddy the pool that we swam in with his cousins Emily and Madison...Dalton thought this was the same hotel that we were at back in the summer when we visited relatives in Missouri!  Funny how an almost 3 year old thinks!  The day ended up being GORGEOUS and Dalton and mommy headed to a park just down the street from Aunt Cindy's house to play while Aunt Cindy and Grandma Wanda finished getting our turkey and dressing lunch ready!  Dalton slid down the BIG yellow slide, ran around and swung in a tire swing!  We headed back and had lunch...it was good and of course Dalton had one bite of turkey and a roll or two and he was SO FULL!  Later that day Dalton actually took a nap with a litlle help from mommy...he slept by himself for a short while and then woke up and fell off the bed!  Not the best way to wake up...he was VERY SAD!  So we laid down together and slept for another hour or so before waking up to find everyone else but Grandma Wanda asleep in the living room.  Once we all got woke up we headed to Aunt Joyce and Uncle Juniors house and they had a house full inside and outside!  Dalton had a great time with all of the toys...lots of John Deere ride on toys and trucks and cars.  Plus lots of kids his age to play with once he warmed up...he kept telling me that he wasn't going to be shy anymore!  But of  course he still was and that's okay with me...I love my shy little guy!  And of course the trip was not complete without a look at Uncle Mike's police car...yes one of Dalton's uncles is a police officer...pretty cool!

Uncle Mike letting him check out the inside...he put the siren on for just a second and that was plenty for Dalton!  He really likes his Uncle Mike and warms up to him quickly which is surprising because he really doesn't get to see him that much...we are glad that we got to spend Turkey Day in Texas with him and Aunt Cindy!

We headed back to Grandma Wanda's house in western Oklahoma later that evening and spent the night at her house!  Dalton loves to check out all of Grandma Wanda's things and especially her piano...he loved it last year and he loved it just as much on this trip too!  Mommy and Dalton had another slumber

party at Grandma's house too!

Friday morning Daddy took Dalton to the park in town to play and run around and around and around!  And mommy took Dalton for a walk up and down the street when they returned...there were horses to see, gravel to pick up and leaves to kick what more could a little boy ask for!  After lunch we headed to see "Uncle" Dee one of Daddy's good friends from childhood at his house that is also known as a little and big boy heaven!  Dee and his wife had their grandkids for the day Teegan (7) and Jera (3) and they were all great hosts to us and let daddy and Dalton play with all of their BIG and little toys!  Daddy can't wait until Dalton gets even bigger so they can spend more time getting into lots of trouble at "Uncle" Dee's place! 

Dalton's first driving date...Jera is a super cute and sweet little girl!  Acutally she's about 6 months older than Dalton!  They got along really well...she was great at sharing all of her toys with Dalton!

Jera's brother Tegan pretending that Dalton ran him over...which is not too far fetched for those who know Dalton.  He has done that to one of our neighbors...luckily she wasn't hurt!

Dalton thought Tegan was pretty funny!  I think Tegan was just enjoying the ride...perhaps he was supervising the date...that is his little sister after all!

Grandma Wanda came back home with us for the weekend and helped entertain Dalton while daddy put up the outdoor Christmas lights and we also put up Dalton's Christmas tree in his room!  The big tree was for another day and time...this momma was tired!  Dalton sure does love spending time with his Grandma Wanda and I am pretty sure that she loves spending time with him just as much!
