more ways to stay cool when the temp is 99 and the heat index is in the 100's

This picture was taken about 2pm technically in the shade on our patio...by shade I mean not direct sunlight!  It's been like that for about a week or so now...YUCK!

Hanging out with cousins at their cool pool...
He thought he was going to go surfing...careful...he might get more than he bargained for!
For someone who doesn't trust that their life jacket will keep them from sinking he's getting pretty darn brave here!
This is where he spent 99% of his time...those cousins put a smile on his face...he thinks they are SOOO FUNNY and most of the time they are!  And pa was pretty brave too standing SO CLOSE...those grand kids like to splash...Dalton included!

Snow blizzard in a can...aka shaving cream!  This momma had a couple of cans of cheap shaving cream packed away just for a day like today...too hot to go outside and a kiddo that wants to be outside so bad!  He was having a grand old time...I think that making all of the shaving cream come out was his favorite part!  He is in there in his underwear...no naked shots!
We turned his bulldozers into snow plows and they went to town moving all of that snow around!  Speaking of snow...the other day after this snow adventure he says "mom we should go see Carter and make snow angels"!  His friend Carter lives in Minnesota and we have talked about all of the snow that they get...I told him that it does snow there quite a bit but I didn't think they had snow on the ground right now...funny kid!  Plus it's kind of a VERY LONG drive!

Dalton decided that his pop up school bus was a great idea for a camp out in his room!  This mommy and daddy say why not...and then mommy had a great idea that maybe his mattress from his crib will fit and sure enough it did and we were lucky enough that it was handy!

This is the next morning when he is pretending to be asleep for the picture...but he did sleep in it all night long and didn't get up once that this mommy is aware of!  But it must not have been that cool because he hasn't asked to sleep in it again...he will play in it but he wants to sleep in his big boy bed!
Dalton cracking himself up in his school bus tent...he can't keep a straight face for long!  Mommy loves that about him!

The kid loves to play fire fighter with the water hose...and I got busy doing something and I hadn't heard anything out of him in a little bit so I go looking and this is what I found!  Right behind his swing set...the grass is bare and he made himself a BIG BIG mud puddle and he was already covered from toe to the top of his head!  Those splashes would go all the way up his shorts and back down again.  He was just giggling and giggling and of course so was mommy after the initial shock!

Dalton's first movie...Toy Story 3!  He is a fan of the first two and we were so excited to take him to his very first movie!  Grandma Beverly and his two oldest cousins joined us!
Dalton was great and sat through the whole movie and even had his 3D glasses on too!  And when the movie was over he asked if we could watch it again.  We have gone a couple of times after that to their $1 summer kid movies and the new of the movie theatre experience has worn off and he only lasted about 45 minutes but that's still good for a 3 year old!

More slip n slide time...he's getting the hang of it now!  He almost made it to the pool of water at the end...nice try big guy!
