labor day weekend

We started our Labor Day Weekend on Thursday morning with a trip to the spray ground with our play date pals...Maddy and Luke!  We have been there once before with them and it was lots of fun and vowed to go every week and then never did until last Friday a couple of days before they turn off the water!  It is quite a drive...so I hope that our town thinks about putting some in so in the future this lazy stay at home mommy doesn't have to drive SO FAR!  Dalton still loved running around and getting sprayed he also loves to swing high and attempt the monkey bars over and over again...he is getting more and more brave!

It's all fun until you get sprayed in the eyes...check out his buddy Luke!  He is going through a phase of wearing all kinds of hats...so cute!
After the spray ground fun came to a halt we headed back to our side of town for lunch at McDonald's and a short trip to Toysrus...is there such a thing as a short trip to Toysrus!?!?!  We had to get a birthday gift for a party on Saturday and of course we left with a little something for Dalton too!  He really does pretty good...I just let him lead the way and we LOOK and PLAY with the toys and rarely does he ask to take any home...he may say "we will get that next time"!

This is always a favorite part of the Toysrus trip...trying out every battery operated vehicle he can find!  But this 4-wheeler is definitely a favorite...he asked for his picture to be taken.  This mommy needs a new camera and I have not been taking very many pictures lately because of it...I think Dalton kind of misses it...he doesn't scream at me SO MUCH anymore now when he sees me bring it out!  And when I say mommy needs a new camera I am serious...a button is broke...error saving images...cracked!  It has taken a beaten over the past 3.5 years!  I still remember walking into Circuit City about a week before Dalton arrived and was like HELP...I am having a baby and all I have is a disposable camera!  Well, it's time to walk into another electronic store and get a new camera...sorry check book!

This is the picture he really wanted me to take...if only you could hear the sound effects!
Later that afternoon we were supposed to head to daddy's work for a work picnic but daddy went without us because there was quite a storm system headed our way!  Dalton was disappointed but not worth being caught out in the weather...so we went to Grandma Beverly's instead!  We had picked up a toy for her to keep at her house while we were at Toysrus so off we went and Dalton asked if we could stay for dinner and of course Grandma Beverly said yes...so we did and watched the storms roll in and even took a bath there too!  All while we updated daddy via texting the weather conditions...lots of HIGH winds and rain!  When we returned home fence was leaning, chairs were knocked over and plants blown off the porch...I think we got a little more wind at our house then at Grandma's!

Friday is kind of fuzzy not quite sure what we did...I know we picked up our friend Rylee from school!  I don't think that we have mentioned it yet but Dalton and mommy are helping out one of my friends by picking up her daughter who is in kindergarten from school and keeping her until she gets off from work and can pick her up!  Dalton thinks she is fantastic and talks her ear off and is still SO EXCITED to pick her up several weeks into our new gig!  Hopefully Rylee feels the same way about Dalton...they play pretty well together and it's fun for me to get to see my friend everyday too!

Saturday daddy had a planning meeting from late morning until late afternoon so mommy and Dalton were on our own!  So we decided to run an errand and get some new plants for mommy's empty planters on the driveway...it has been a horrible summer as far as heat goes and my plants took a hit...it didn't matter how much we watered the heat just devoured the leaves and petals:(  So bring on fall...we are ready for mums, pansies and as many pumpkins and gourds that we can pick out of our patch in the backyard!  I need to take some pictures we have quite a few gourds and pumpkins...they are kind of hard to find right now because the patch is a mess with tall grass!  Not a beautiful sight but it will be with those bright orange pumpkins and Dalton thinks it's cool too!
Dalton helping mommy pot her new plants a.k.a making an even bigger mess than we intended!  I think we are asking Santa for a truck load of dirt for Christmas...seriously that boy spends more time digging and moving dirt than he does with any of his other toys!
After a much need bubbly tub we headed to a birthday party given by another one of mommy's friends that has just moved back to town after many many years away!  She is married with three boys one of which was turning 3...his name is Brady and he and Dalton get along really well!  Dalton was SO EXCITED to give him his presents...a construction hat with a light on it and a power drill!  The party was at a park and we had hot dogs and birthday cake...good times!
Dalton and Brady hanging out at the park...

Daddy helping Dalton on the monkey bars...these were too big he couldn't get his hand around the bar!

He even went down the twisty slide...told you he was getting braver!
NOW IT'S TIME FOR CAKE...
Brady had help from one of his brothers with putting the candles on...according to the cake he was about 10 years old...so funny!  There were plenty of candles for all of the helpers to blow out!

Dalton's famous cupcake face...the boy loves some chocolate icing!  That's another one of Dalton's friends Drew...mommy also went to school with his mommy long time ago!  It has been fun getting our boys together to play!  Everyone thought Dalton had the funniest face and then we spotted Brady...

He would not crack a smile...it was so cute!  Such a serious face yet such a silly one with all of that icing:)

Sunday daddy spent with the rest of the big boys in the family dove hunting and little Dalton had to join all the girls for more hot dogs at Aunt Dawn's house!  Luckily he wasn't too upset about it and enjoyed the cousins most of the time we were there and of course their fun big back yard to play in!  We ended the night with mommy and Dalton having a slumber party in his room...daddy got home very late!  Dalton had been asking to have one all week...and he had been so patient and even said "you might want to ask your husband if it's okay"!  He has been very much into every ones role...who is the wife, the mother, the father, the husband, who is mommy's daddy etc.

Monday daddy had to go to work and he took Dalton with him for a couple of hours while mommy just enjoyed the silence!  And later that day Grandma Beverly came over and helped this mommy recover a dining room chair...it turned out pretty cute so I am off to Hobby Lobby to buy more fabric to do the other 5 chairs.  Mommy has been on a turn this house into a home kick...doing some painting, getting ready to do some more once Dalton gets back in school, etc.  And since mommy is making a little money on the side watching little Rylee I don't feel so guilty about spending money on things to fix up the house...so if you happen to come by and it looks a little crazy hopefully it won't look to crazy for long!

The week gets even more interesting...Dalton starts preschool on Thursday and has his first soccer game on Saturday morning plus a pool party later that afternoon with some friends who are visiting from Germany...and that's just what I know about!
